I had such a fun weekend and I’m sad to get back to the real world today. I have to do a last minute run for a plain white t-shirt that my daughter needs to bring to school tomorrow, figure out what we are eating for dinner, and catch up on cleaning. It’s about to be another busy week at work so I’m determined to find some time to rest today too.
R - Reading
On Monday I finished listening to Wedding Issues by Elle Evans. It was a funny, quick read I’d recommend if you like a bit of wedding drama. I also finished The Backtrack by Erin La Rosa, a rom-com with time travel elements, due to publish this summer. It’s a very niche romance but as an elder emo who lived out her dreams of seeing Death Cab For Cutie this weekend, it couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m also very close to finish listening to my reread of Bride by Ali Hazelwood on audio and have two chapters left in Karen’s Rollerskates, one of Ann M. Martin’s illustrated versions of the Baby-Sitters Litter Sister series.
E - Eating
The Home Chef Bluey Box! We’ve tried several meal subscription boxes in the past with various success. I have to admit that the Bluey advertising sealed the deal for me. As a bonus, my kids actually ate their dinners.
P - Playing
A few albums on heavy rotation this weekend: Give Up by The Postal Service, Only God Was Above Us by Vampire Weekend, and Hyperdrama by Justice.
O - Obsessing over
Seeing Death Cab for Cutie and The Postal Service in concert for the 20th Anniversary of their records Transatlaticism and Give Up! It’s one of those bucket list items like seeing Radiohead that I never really thought I’d cross off my list. Once upon a time, I was just a girl in 8th grade wishing Seth Cohen was my boyfriend. Now I’ve got my own curly-headed Indie boy to live my real life with. It’s pretty cool. I wish I could hug my past self right now but it was redemptive to hug my husband while listening to sad girl songs and then dance around to indie pop bops. I’ve been to my fair share of concerts in my life but this one immediately moved to the top spot. It’s unreal just how good they sounded live!
R - Recommending
The Gentlemen on Netflix! Look up the content warnings before deciding if you’re ready to jump in but I’m committed to it now that I’m two episodes in. It’s part dark comedy, part action drama and set in the modern day at an English country estate. I also rewatched Divergent this week since I’m on a Theo James kick.
T - Treating myself to
Merch from the Death Cab For Cutie and The Postal Service concert and a few goodies from Indie Bookstore Day. We were able to stop by two book stores yesterday on the way back from our concert which felt like a real treat! I also bought a new linen tank and skort set that I hope to wear at the beach this summer.
