Even though highs are still in the 80s, cloudy skies and frequent drizzling reassure me that Fall is on the way. I’m ready to re-establish my cozy evening routines and embrace dark academia once again.
R - Reading
I finished The Pumpkin Spice Cafe by Laurie Gilmore on audio and while it was not great, the Fall vibes were immaculate and the furry companions were a highlight. Now that I’ve finished Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood, I’m officially an author completionist and even more excited for Deep End next year.
THREE audiobook holds from my library came in at once Tuesday night and I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish them all in 14 days but plan to try.
Big in Sweden by Sally Franson
One Year Ago in Spain by Evelyn Skye
Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune
I’m curious which one you’d pick first!
I am currently reading a NetGalley DRC of Most Wonderful by Georgia Clark on my Kindle and it’s not overly Christmasy so far which is nice! I adored Clark’s characters in It Had to Be You and the Belvedere siblings are somehow even more endearing. Most Wonderful is expected to be published next month.
This week I continued reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid out loud to my 1st grader and read a few picture books to my preschooler.
E - Eating
CAVA 😋 It’s always such a treat to visit some of my favorite chain restaurants when I’m out of town. Our small town is really lacking a BYOB (build your own bowl) restaurant and I wish I had the capital to open a spot. I made my own greens + grains bowl and played it pretty safe this time with basmati rice, splendid greens mix, crazy feta, roasted eggplant, roasted red pepper hummus, chicken, tomato + cucumber salad, kalamata olives, skhug, and lemon garlic tahini. I may have overdone the dips and sauces but no worries, I scooped it all up with their pita chips.
P - Playing
This album in my car. Nothing hits quite the same as the indie hits I listened to in my teens and early 20s.
O - Obsessing over
Emily in Rome. I hope Marcello is a winner. Emily deserves someone who treats her well.
R - Recommending
Michela’s list of fall films to watch. I’ve added a few to my watch list. I hope this is the year I finally watch Dead Poets Society.
T - Treating myself to
A trip to Trader Joe’s while attending a work conference out of town. I only get to go to Trader Joe’s a couple of times a year so I stocked up on all my favorite snacks and our food for the week. I’m a little Type A about my trips and keep a running note in Notion with my wish list categorized by section.
Confession: I hate pumpkin-flavored things so I only bought two new-to-me Fall items from TJ’s. Maple butter and maple walnut biscotti. I think both will pair perfectly with coffee.

I’d definitely go for the TJ Klune. But I’d also be “delivering later” those suckers!
I’m excited for Somewhere Beyond the Sea!
Alas I think Marcello is going to reveal some fatal flaw in the next season that will send Emily back to Gabriel and Paris.
