I’m trying my hardest to make regular trips to the library part of our 2023 weekend routine. I have such fond memories of my mom taking me to the library and park on Saturday mornings and I want my kids to remember that too. A couple of weeks ago we checked out a new stack of picture books. Some caught my eye because of the title, others are getting us ready for Valentine’s Day, and a couple celebrate the winter weather. Here’s what we came home with:
The Fog by Kyo Maclear — An environmental tale about a human-watching bird! This one is a witty way to show the importance of nature and the weather.
The Incredible Book Eating Boy by Oliver Jeffers — A little boy discovers the more books he eats, the smarter he gets! A fun ode to the joy of reading, this one pairs great with The Book Eaters by Sunyi Dean for adults.
Love is My Favorite Thing by Emma Chichester Clark — A cute story about unconditional love that any pet parent will enjoy sharing with their kiddos.
Wolf in the Snow by Matthew Cordell — A mostly wordless picture book about a girl and a wolf who get lost in the snow. This story explores friendship, bravery, and resilience.
The Bookstore Cat by Cylin Busby — This is a fun twist on an A to Z book that follows the life of a bookstore cat.
Viking in Love by Doug Cenko — A Viking overcomes his fear of the sea with the help of a few kittens to win his love.
Catching Kisses by Amy Gibson — A celebration of kisses around the U.S.A. You’ll love the artwork in this one!
Do you have a library routine? A friend just shared she’s been taking her kids every day before bathtime! What a commitment!
We love Wolf in the Snow so much! I want to read Viking in Love and the Bookstore Cat next!
