Hi, friend! Happy Holidays! I’m keeping this edition of my monthly edit short and sweet because everyone in my house has a cold again and my work just picked up while everyone else gets to enjoy their vacations. *Cries in a paycheck.* I’m planning to take a little break from writing as I regroup and set some intentions for the New Year. I hope you allow yourself a little breathing room too.
Loving Lately
Here are a few things I’ve been loving lately.
Reading:
‘Tis the season for a holiday romance. I’ve read 9 so far…The Book Club Hotel, A Winter in New York, Snow Fall, A Little Magic, The Matzah Ball, Traditions, Lovelight Farms, Holiday Romance, and Time to Shine. Right now my plan is to squeeze in two more on audio to hit 100 books by the end of the year. It was not at all my goal to read 100 books in a year but now that I’m just two away from hitting that milestone, I’m going for it!
Watching:
I’ve been in the mood for Christmas movies as well. I’ve watched the 2018 animated version of The Grinch no fewer than four times with my kids this month already. I’ve also found time to watch these films solo or with my husband: Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas TV Special, Home Alone (Home Alone 2 is my favorite so re-watching is a priority), Your Christmas or Mine 2, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever, Candy Cane Lane, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, A Christmas Story, Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and half of Love Actually.
We stayed up late a week ago to watch Santa Claus come by our house on a fire truck! It’s always such a delight to watch my kids and their adoration for both Santa and fire trucks. We’re privileged to have our own little Stars Hollow community that finds some value in these holiday traditions.
Wearing:
This festive t-shirt from Shop Kristin Jones that you may have to pry off my body post-holiday season.
An unexpected favorite combo I came up with this month is a chunky black and white striped sweater paired with black and white houndstooth pants. I think it works since the patterns are different sizes! I just need a pair of red ballet flats to feel like a French girl.
Decorating:
There’s something so special about the glow of a Christmas tree. It’s truly the highlight of our decor year after year. I love seeing what ornaments the kids bring home from school to add to our collection. Pro tip: invest in this WiFi plug.
Eating:
A simple Christmas Eve menu:
deviled eggs
pierogi
prime rib with au jus
Christmas salad with honey mustard dressing
We’ll also be indulging ourselves in my mother-in-law’s Tourtière.
Listening to:
I love love love Apple Music’s The Crate playlists and the Christmas Edition is perfection.
If you enjoyed this post and want to see more, consider buying me a coffee and keeping me caffeinated during my writing sessions!
Cheers,
First time hearing about The Crate playlists and can’t wait to check them out!
