This week was so full between Red Ribbon Week, Halloween, and Homecoming. I had to keep up with who needed to wear what and when even more than usual. Thank goodness for my Google Calendar. I’d be lost without checking it every hour. I also got a new nightguard from the dentist, new glasses in the mail, attended my daughter’s Girl Scouts Investiture ceremony, and had an early birthday dinner for my Mom. I’m ready for things to slow down a bit!
R - Reading
This week I read Night by Elie Wiesel, one of my Rereading Project selections. It’s a must-read for everyone and felt timely given our current political landscape.
I’m making my way one chapter a night through Why Am I Like This? My Brain Isn't Broken (And Neither Is Yours) by Gemma Styles (sister of THE Harry Styles). My initial thoughts are that it reads very much like a college essay but I think it would be a great introduction to mental health for teens and young adults.
I’m also listening to Masters of Death by Olivie Blake on audiobook while reading along in my Kindle which has been a fun experiment. I am enjoying the narrator so far. It’s a fun, spooky little read to bridge the gap between Halloween and Thanksgiving.
E - Eating
Entirely too much Halloween candy. I did at least sort through our piles the morning after Halloween and I feel much better about hiding it. This pork verde tamale casserole recipe from Kroger was also a hit this week. I subbed ground beef for the pork.
P - Playing
Soccer Mommy’s new album, Evergreen.
O - Obsessing over
This look back at 2004 from The Verge. I’m absolutely in denial that 2004 was TWENTY YEARS ago. How many of you started a blog way back then? 🙋♀️
R - Recommending
The cheapest, most effective tubing mascara I’ve ever tried. You can find it at any store! It gives my lashes visible length and lasts all day without smudging. I’m prone to watery eyes which is why this product is a game changer for my everyday makeup routine.
T - Treating myself to
A cream cheese kolache from our local Amish bakery. The sweet, yeasty dough is so decadent.

i may not have started a blog back in 2004, but I sure was obsessive about the pregnancy message boards on iVillage in 2005!!
Me! I had a blog :)
