Good morning! I’m running a little late getting this morning’s weekly report out because I’m enjoying some cooler temps outside. Kids are fed and we’re planning out our grandparent’s day!
R - Reading
September seems like the perfect time to transition to darker themes, thrillers, and paranormal novels so my reading this week reflects the changing seasons.
I finished Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid and overall it was just okay. I enjoyed the gothic atmosphere but found the pacing slow and the character development… well, underdeveloped. I feel let down because I loved Ava Reid’s novel A Study in Drowning earlier this year.
My library honored another audiobook suggestion and my request for Death at Morning House by Maureen Johnson came in! If you’re familiar with her Truly Devious series, this stand-alone mystery follows a similar structure. Alternating timelines and a mystery that unravels in the past and present.
If I Ever Stop Haunting You by Colby Wilkens shouldn’t work but the mix of lustful romance and a vengeful ghost haunting a Scottish castle made for a spooky yet entertaining read! I’m eager to read more of Wilkens’ work.
My hold for The Faculty Lounge by Jennifer Mathieu came in and I’m already loving it! I can’t wait to read a bigger chunk this week.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. Did I read the book series sitting on my Kindle? Of course not. Did I fly through all 6 episodes of the limited series anyway? YES, and it was worth it! British TV is just better.

I’m watching Maxton Hall on Prime and think you might like it!
I have the first Good Girl's Guide to Murder book sitting on my shelf too. Maybe I'll read it soon because I've been hearing great things about that show. 😂
