I took a break from The Weekly Report for a couple of weeks while we assessed immediate damages and needs from the impacts of Hurricane Helene in my town. We were not prepared for her path to come directly through our town. The damage is absolutely devastating. Dominion Energy has stated repeatedly that it’s the worst they’ve seen in South Carolina. We live in a community that people generally evacuate to from the coast. It’s been incredible to see the citizens of my town come together to help each other get food, supplies, shelter, and access to services. From letting people cut through their driveway to get around blocked trees, to lending out a chainsaw or generator, everyone has done their part in what will continue to be a long road to recovery. Every day I wake up grateful that we are safe and our house was not damaged. My heart goes out to those in North Carolina, especially to our friends and family in the Asheville area. This natural disaster is unlike anything I’ve experienced before.

Anything that can be served in a bowl. Beef bulgogi, spaghetti, burritos, salad, etc. We weren’t sure what Hurricane Milton would bring to our area, so we haven’t completely restocked our fridge and freezer yet.
