It has been such a busy week between an increased workload, school events, and being out of town for the weekend… one of those weeks where I’m constantly looking at my Google calendar so I don’t drop any balls.
R - Reading
This week I finished How to Help a Hungry Werewolf by Charlotte Stein (Kindle DRC from NetGalley) and One-Star Romance by Laura Hankin (audiobook from the library). I made it about 40% through One Last Summer by Kate Spencer on audiobook from the library before my Library app decided to DNF it for me. I was unsure if I wanted to keep going when the audio files corrupted and I couldn’t finish it anyway. I started If I Stopped Haunting You by Colby Wilkins (Kindle DRC from NetGalley) and abandoned The Four by Ellie Keel for now. Our most recent read-aloud is Karen’s Worst Day from the Baby-Sitters Little Sister graphic novel series. My first grader is an emerging reader so a lot of our reading time is dedicated to homework at the moment. One of these days I’ll do a day in the life post with timestamps but in general, I listen to audiobooks at work and read 30 minutes to an hour before bed most days.
E - Eating
It seems like I’ve had Mexican food almost every other day between going out and having leftovers. My go-to order is pollo al chipotle.
P - Playing
Billie Eilish’s Summer playlist on Apple Music.
O - Obsessing over
The wine-colored trend for Fall. I’m partial to the color maroon because of my alma mater (GO COUGS!) and the Taylor Swift song. If you’re eager to try out the trend, might I suggest the color Obsessed by Olive and June?
R - Recommending
Emma’s love letter to Irish fiction.
Martha’s recommendations for reading women in translation.
T - Treating myself to
I mentioned last week that I bought a new HP laptop so I could keep up with general life admin. I downloaded the Arc browser and spent some time this week setting up different spaces for this newsletter and book updates. It felt so productive to immediately add details about a stack of gifted books I received in the mail this week to my Notion tracker.

The Karen series... that made me smile. I loved those books growing up. Devoured them in sittings. I'm days away from giving birth to my first, a daughter, and I can't wait for the day when I can introduce her to such gems.
I also started and set aside The Four this week, too! I may try it out again as the weather cools down but it felt too academic for my mood this week.
