Hello! It’s Masters Week in Augusta. We went to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur for the first time yesterday and had a great time out on the course. It’s always so special to take my daughter, and I hope she looks back on our times walking the greens with awe and appreciation that she got to be a part of something so exclusive.
R - Reading
🎧Audio: I finished Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, a prequel to the Hunger Games series that shares Haymitch Abernathy’s history through the 2nd Quarter Quell. I have some minor squabbles about the pacing and use of songs in the audiobook format in particular but overall, it was an enjoyable read and a huge improvement over A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
My library honored my request for Swept Away by Beth O’Leary, and I immediately fell in love with the concept. Stranded on a boat with the man who was supposed to be your one-night-stand?! This one’s for fans of the forced proximity trope but who love O’Leary’s tender outlook on relationships.
I immediately started Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez afterward, and wow! What a tender story. It was difficult to read about the main character’s mother’s journey with early-onset dementia but it was done with so much care.
📱Kindle: I’m still reading The Love Haters by Katherine Center!
📕Physical Copy: Kills Well With Others by Deanna Raybourn is my favorite type of cozy murder mystery. I could read many more stories about this quartet of “retired” assassins.
E - Eating
A few weeks ago our Home Chef was delivered late so I decided to use our credit to get one of the Minecraft meals delivered. My kids enjoyed the themed box showing up on our doorstep!
country fried steak with mashed potatoes, peas, and savory gravy
roasted red pepper penne pasta
pizza
homemade spaghetti and meatballs
chicken with creamed spinach and smashed potatoes
lots of pimento cheese sandwiches from the Augusta National
P - Playing
Djo’s new album The Crux
O - Obsessing over
The way my cat loves to rest her head on a pillow. She also doesn’t have a favorite person in our house, which is the best. We all get cuddles when we need them most.
R - Recommending
Two local boutiques if you’re heading out to the golf course this Spring:
The Swank Company if you need a bit of tee time outfit inspiration.
Posh Tots for kids smocked outfits. I love the Pink Chicken collection this year, but we’ve gotten a lot of wear from Little English in the past.
T - Treating myself
to a few things from the Masters gift shop. I got another Scout tote this year and a silk scarf that I might tie around my boat and tote.
