I LOVE Charleston. I feel like everyone feels at home there. It's such a friendly city and so walkable. I love Blue Bicycle Books and Buxton Books are adorable. Did you make it to either one? xo
I am DROOOOOOOLING. I’m so thrilled for you that you got a chance to get away. And it looks like you had a blast! I’ve always wanted to visit Charleston and I think this is my sign to make it happen!
Completely understand what you mean! Leaving our film festival at 10 p.m. I KNEW I was old when I was sprinting to get as far away from the bars as possible. Also this is my official petition for sit down restaurants to stay open later.
This was delightful, Kuleigh - thank you for sharing your trip with us! I love reading books set in this location, and your photos and descriptions really added to my understanding of the area :-)
I would love some of your recommendations. I know that Where the Crawdads Sing is divisive but your comment made me think of that book. There’s just no way someone who wasn’t from the coast (and also a zoologist) could write with such rich detail that you can picture yourself there!
What a fun trip, Kuleigh! I went to Charlston in 2015 for my cousin's bachelorette party but it was far too short a trip and now you have me wanting to go back and explore some more. I'm glad you got the time away together!
I feel like it's a place that calls for its fair share of unstructured exploration! I'm sure you get that, being in Maine. Your pics of shells reminded me we also found a decent amount of whole shells and they're still in my beach bag to give my kids!
Love Charleston! It is fun reading about your fav spots. I am lucky that two of my closest friends live there so I always have a good excuse to visit. Big fan of Bin152!
That's the best! I can't believe how many times we walked by Bin152 over the years and didn't pop in. It will definitely be a repeat spot for me. The service, selection, and vibe were all excellent!
Absolutely LOVE Charleston! My husband and I have been vacationing there 1-2 times per year for over 30 years. It is ever-changing for sure, but always so enchanting! And the seafood…oh myyyyy!
I love that you considered what to incorporate into your daily routine from the trip. I’m going to try this after I return from CDMX.
I hope your trip gives you some time to reflect!

Yes! We went to Buxton Books. We were staying closer to that end of town this time. They also have a new bookstore + bar called Philosophers & Fools!

It was a much-needed trip. I am biased but definitely think it's worth visiting at least once if you get the chance!
Ah, I need to plan a trip to Charleston! I haven't been since college -- and I'd say that was a very different kind of trip. 💛💛💛

How about some prolific authors? So many titles to choose from :-) This piece lists a lot of my favorite authors that I have been reading for years! https://mariebostwick.com/favorite-lowcountry-authors-and-books/
Perfect! Thank you!
