I loved the Christmas You Found Me as well!! Surprisingly heartfelt and the setting was fabulous. And now you have me excited about Southern by Design as well - I’ll look for it on NetGalley ☺️

I haven't read much southern fiction but with my background, I couldn't pass this one up! I got excited and read the first two chapters last night after I finished The Wake Up Call!

I feel like I have a few other recommendations for you with Southern + historic preservation ~ let me wade through my books read to see if I can find them!

I loved Hannah Tate, Beyond Repair! Not *exactly* historic preservation but had fun with so many of the themes in it. I'd love to hear what you come up with :)

Found one! Have you read The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews? It’s set in Savannah and was a lot of fun ☺️

I haven’t read any of her books yet so that might be a good place to start!

I am not a big mystery reader so take my rec with a grain of salt but I had a lot of fun with it and others seemed to as well!

So many Christmas romance books that I want to add to my read for next holiday season! Thank you!

I also just wrapped Small Things Like These, our book club books. I’d been recently made aware of the Magdalene Laundries by a friend of mine, and though I loved the book and would fully recommend, I didn’t really feel like it was a holiday book, even though the setting is Christmas time. What did you think? I hadn’t thought of it as a Christmas Carol-esque lesson kind of book.

More cozy sweaters and hallmark ish holiday story lines! 😂

Yes, that's exactly the comparison I'd make. It feels like A Christmas Carol. The history lesson was fascinating. It seems like so many countries have a similar story and it's heartbreaking how modern it all is.

Save this for next year! I’m surprised I read so many new releases this holiday season. Usually I’m making my way through a backlist.
