The Frozen River was one of my favorite reads of 2024. I just love Ariel Lawson's writing style and she's so clever. The fact that it was based on a true story blew me away. Seems like a GREAT reading month. xoxoxo

She’s great! I also enjoyed her book Code Name Helene! Just wow. I was also surprised to learn it is based on a true story. I learned a lot about a part of history I previously never even thought about.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been online! Did you move away from goodreads? The story graph is so pretty! 🤩 anyhow, I added The frozen River to my TBR after finishing this newsletter. Just like you I don’t know why I don’t read more historical fiction because when I do pick one up, I always love it. 🤓 ALSO, maybe I’m a prude? LOL I am half way through Deep End and I think the link and spice level is perfect. Haha

I still post on both platforms but I like the graphs and data that Storygraph offers! I think it’s good to give a little perspective about what the intimate content in a book is so you can decide what’s for you. With that said, don’t read Priest if Deep End is a good level for you!

So when I first read the synopsis for The Favorites I wasn't interested.... but after all of the endless hype, I decided I wanted to give it a try. I'm not a big TJR fan, so I haven't read Carrie Soto or Daisy Jones to compare-- but will let you know what I think. I have my hold from the library and need to start it!

The audio book was good but longgggggggg. I had to speed it up.

I think that is my biggest complaint. It could have been shorter.

Ugh I returned Quicksilver after one chapter. Apparently that was a mistake and I need to dive back in.

I think you should give it another go when you're in the mood for a fantasy! It takes a handful of chapters to get into the big drama. I went back and forth between the audiobook and reading on my Kindle and I just loved it! Couldn't get enough.

I 100% agree about Deep End - I will read whatever Ali wants to write! I love how prolific of an author she is too, she just announced MATE, the sequel to bride is coming in October! 🤩🐺🌑

so interesting to hear your thoughts on the favorites. i am 90% through. if it ends the way i think it is going to end i think i might be truly disappointed! the full cast recording is pretty entertaining, but it is really long!

The Frozen River was so good! I said the same thing Martha Ballard is a bad ass. I liked seeing your reading stats for the month!
