There’s a great “Jazz for Kids” record from 2004 that we all enjoy. It starts off with Ella Fitzgerald playing Old MacDonald but in such a fun way. It’s always a hit!

That sounds perfect! I bet it’s so soulful. I’ll look into it!

I’m sure you know, but Casper Babypants, who I also love when I must go for the kids specific music, is the lead singer of The Presidents of the United States of America and I found that fact so fun and also gave me an excuse to introduce my kids to the songs Lump and Peaches which are maybe not so strictly for kids but are still pretty fun!

That's actually news to me! My kids listen to plenty of music that's not specifically for kids but they still call for nursery rhymes and some days I just can't do it!

Same girl. Same. My mom tried to put on some “kids” cd she got for the grandkids and I nearly took her hand off with the corrective slap I used to save our ears. And once our neighbor gave us some CD’s and books for kids and because my cars are ancient they have CD players and we spent about 10 months of our life only listening to this specific brand of kids songs made by Canadian singers teaching us about dinosaurs and molecules etc etc etc. until we slowly “lost” them all. 😆

Barenaked Ladies! They are mostly family friendly and even have a children's album. My kids have been raised on them and have seen them in concert at least once each. (I've seen them 23 times but that's a whole other story, LOL)

I can’t tell you how quickly I clicked on this headline haha. Love your suggestions! “The Story Orchestra” is a fun series of books that introduces kids to classic music, and my four-year-old son has actually really taken to it. Now I sometimes put on our local classical music radio station when we all need to calm down or have background music on while playing.

We have a similar book called Welcome to the Opera! My daughter took it to school to share with her music class.

Serendipity! I love that these songs feel like kids songs but aren’t your typical nursery rhymes.

I loved listening to kids music in French when I was trying to learn the language and my girls were toddlers. Much easier than Duolingo and the girls picked it up too :)

That's such a good idea! I'm currently working my way through the Duolingo French course so that might actually be helpful for me too.

when my oldest was a baby with colic, we found the only thing that would

calm him was elton's "rocket man." so we listened to it on loop for 12 months straight.

fun fact... it never got old.

We listened to so much Elton John too! You're right, it doesn't get old.

Love this post!

Nick Cope is a British indie musician who now makes kids albums and they're great. Really catchy tunes, fun lyrics. There's a TV series called the Nick Cope podcast thats fun too (on BBC here but also some on youtube).
